Reinstating the earthing reference point on the customers' installation.

Removal of one of the main generators with its Neutral Earthing Resistor created an issue on the installation, as this removed the earthing reference point. In this situation, the prospective faults would not be detected and removed by the existing earth protection.

The package vendor for the new generator was not aware that their package would not provide adequate earthing protection. Arc Flash Safety carried out a study in ETAP software to demonstrate the issue and to investigate solutions. Remedial actions were proposed to the client and implemented on the platform.
