Full protection discrimination, Arc Flash studies and protection revision for one of the main UK Oil & Gas Terminals.

Arc Flash Safety was contracted to carry out a detailed arc flash analysis and assessment of the existing protection on the entire electrical system of a major Oil and Gas Terminal. In addition, load flow and short-circuit studies were carried out to verify the system behaviour under various operating conditions.

Several switchboards were identified with high arc flash incident energy levels, and revised protection settings to mitigate these energies were proposed, together with the updated Time Current Characteristic (TCC) drawings and updated Master Protection Schedule.
